Demulsification principle of Demulsifier

Demulsifiers can be divided into crude oil demulsifiers and reverse demulsifiers.

Demulsification of crude oil refers to the separation of oil and water in emulsified oil-water mixture by the chemical action of demulsifier, so as to achieve the purpose of dehydration of crude oil and ensure the water content standard of crude oil export.

The reverse demulsifier can effectively improve the interfacial tension of O/W emulsion, make the colloidal particles in the sewage lose the stable repulsive force and attractiveness, and eventually lose stability and form flocs. Further, through chemical bridging, the separation of oily water and harmful impurities in the waste water can be completed finally, so as to recover the oil products and purify the sewage, so as to meet the follow-up. The water quality requirements of the management process or the discharge requirements of the state for sewage.



The main factors affecting the stability of emulsion are as follows

1 / interfacial tension of oil and water

Surfactant can reduce the interfacial tension of oil and water, relatively reduce the surface energy, and improve the stability of emulsion system.

2 / influence of interface charge

The droplets of emulsion are charged, which makes the droplets close to each other to produce repulsive force and prevent the droplets from coalescing.

Formation of 3/ interfacial film

When the surfactant is added to the oil-water system, the surface tension will be reduced. At the same time, surfactants must be adsorbed on the interface to form a boundary film and have a certain intensity to protect the dispersed phase.



Demulsification principle:

1. Phase transfer reverse transformation mechanism:

When demulsifier is added, phase transformation occurs, that is to say, surfactant can be used as demulsifier. This kind of demulsifier is easy to form complex with emulsifier, which makes emulsifier lose emulsification.

2. The mechanism of collision breaking film is:

Under the condition of heating or stirring, demulsifier has more chances to collide the interfacial film of emulsion, or adsorb on the interface membrane, or displace part of the surfactant, thus breaking the boundary film, so that its stability is greatly reduced, flocculation, coalescence and demulsification occur.

3. Solubilization mechanism:

One or a few of the used demulsifiers can form a polymer, which can solubilize emulsifier molecules and cause demulsification of emulsified crude oil.

4. Mechanism of fold deformation:

The results of microscopical observation show that w / O emulsion has double or multi-layer water ring, and the oil ring is between the two layers of water ring. Therefore, the mechanism of fold deformation is put forward. Under the action of heating and stirring and demulsifier, each layer of water ring inside the liquid ball is connected, which makes the liquid drop agglomerate and demulsify.
